Easy ways to earn gold for epic flying
1. Don't buy useless crap from the AH. People are tempted to buy vanity items or various pieces of gear that won't actively help them to level or be more efficient. On the other hand, DO buy leveling gear with good stats for your class/spec. I encourage this especially before you hit Outland, as the quest rewards up to that point (with few small exceptions) are notoriously crappy (plate with spirit anyone?). So, while I'm leveling, I'm always on the lookout for cheaply priced green gear on the AH.
2. Try to vendor every dropped item that's white or above on the Auction House. This should be common sense but I still see people who vendor even greens. I won't even mention those who vendor gathered materials like ore and herbs.
3. Also when selling stacks of something, try to determine whether it's more profitable to put up whole stacks or to split them into singles. For example I've noticed on my server that while Saronite Bars sell for, say 1.5 gold apiece when stacked to 20, they often sell for 3-4 gold apiece individually.
4. Always pick up gray items from mobs and vendor them. I find it amazing how many people hate looting gray items. Those grays add up a lot, especially gray weapons and armor and also those items that stack! If you don't have enough bag space, just get bigger bags.
5. You do have a bank alt, don't you? If you don't, shame on you. Just make a level 1 alt and stick him in a major city close to a mailbox, auction house and bank. You should mail all the stuff you want to vendor on the AH to this character. While you're leveling you shouldn't even step in a major city unless you're going to the class/profession trainer or for various quests. More time spent in the playing field = more drops = bigger profits.
6. Speaking of bags, always carry the biggest ones you can afford. At the very least you should have 4x 16-slot Netherweave Bags, however, these days 20-slot Frostweave Bags have dropped a lot in price so I would definitely pick those up, or the 22 slot Embersilk ones.
7. Related to above, don't bother with enchants while leveling. They're simply not worth it (remember, leveling quests are not raid material) and most are expensive. Of course, if your leveling character is an enchanter, do make liberal use of enchants. That's valid for every profession. Another exception would be if you can procure a nice blue or epic weapon which will last you for 10 levels or more; by all means, enchant that weapon but be reasonable with how much you spend. Just use your judgment.
8. While leveling, don't spend money on food buffs, scrolls, elixirs, etc. You won't need them typically, as most leveling content is designed to be soloed without buffs. Occasionally a few buffs might help you solo a group quest but during your adventures you will accumulate a plethora of food, scrolls and potions anyway.
9. When vendoring ore/bars, try to figure out which one gets you the best returns. Sometimes, ore vendors a lot better than smelted bars. Just be aware of your server's market.

Update on wow solo for gold
Going at WoW sol is a great opportunity to pick up some gold. Here's a tip, with transmog out, a lot of people like the style of BC and Wrath gear, even the BoE's. It's different for every server, but look in your auction house for BoE items that are selling for a good price, then use http://wowhead.com to find out where to get them. Go do some solo runs, pick up BoE's, and profit.

Best Shields
With 4.3 around the corner, attractive gear is going to be in high demand. Lets start with some Shields that are unique.
From Blackwing Lair, there's the crowd favorite, Elementium Reinforced Bulwark. For those looking, it drops from Chromaggus, the large core hound boss. For most classes at 85, he is an easy kill, just tank and spank.
If dragons are more your style, or maybe you want to kill Deathwing wile holding the severed head of his brethren, the Red Dragonscale Protector is the way to go. This drops from Vaelastrasz the Corrupt in Blackwing Lair. Pretty simple dragon fight, remember if you're in a group to avoid heads and tails. Beware of Burning Adrenaline though, as it does percent based damage and will kill you just as fast at 85 as 60.
Maybe you like bugs more than dragons. Or maybe you just want to see your significant other, who has a crippling fear of them, squirm. The Blessed Qiraji Bulwark is the way to go for you. A quest reward from Imperial Qiraji Armaments, this shield is a nice unique model, and the quest will land you a good bit of rep.
So what if that's no creepy enough for you? How about a giant bug skull? (Do bugs even have skulls?) You can get Buru's Skull Fragment from Buru the Gorger in Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. This fight had some mechanics to deal with involving the eggs at 60 and 80, but at 85 there should be no problem with tank and spank.
Karazhan has my personal favorite shield, the Shield of Impenetrable Darkness. This is a beautiful unique model shield from Nightbane, an optional boss that takes some work to get to. Once you are honored with the Violet Eye, Archmage Alturus will let you start the quest chain you need. Careful not to kill him while he's in his flying stage, or you might not be able to loot him.
If you're a Draenei looking for a shield to match your heritage, Gruul from Gruul's Lair has what you're looking for. The Aldori Legacy Defender looks nice on blueberries and fridges alike. Gruul is a very easy fight, and you will have more problems getting past the warlock/priest combo that High King Maulgar before him has.
Illidan Stormrage from Black temple drops the Bulwark of Azzinoth. This model is unique in the fact that it turns sideways on your back. Relatively simple overall, it fits with the warrior motto of "Spikes make everything better". Illidan can be soloed by a deathknight, but since they can't use shields, you might want to bring friends.
My blood elf friends probably think I've left them out, but never fear, there's a shield with plenty of green and gold! The Aegis of Angelic Fortune is a beautiful shield from Entropius in Sunwell. It's Sunwell, bring friends.
Wrath bosses still take more than one person generally, and planning. If people want to see an article on them anyways, I'd be more than happy to write it though. Also, if you have any suggestions, as always, feel free to let me know.

Look for new stuff soon!
I haven't had too much time to update the site lately, but with a new tier, new content, the first LK solo by mionelol, and some class changes, you can expect new guides, ideas, and help. Feel free to submit any ideas you have as well!

List of soloable mounts
WoW has tons of unique mounts, as of cataclysm, most of them can be soloed. Here's a list.
[Deathcharger's Reins] Dropped by Lord Aurius Rivendare: Easy to solo, low drop rate.
Temple of Ahn'Qiraj Drops 4 mounts from trash that can only be used there. Good for upping your mount number though. Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue.
[Fiery Warhorse's Reins] is dropped by Attumen the Huntsman. Should be doable by anyone at 85, tanks, hunters and rogues at 80. Please note, it's a vampire horse that's on fire.
[Swift White Hawkstrider] comes from Kael'thas Sunstrider in Magisters Terrace. It only drops in Heroic, so clothies may have a bit of a hard time, but otherwise it's easy to clear at 85.
[Reins of the Raven Lord] Drop from Anzu in heroic Sethekk Halls. Previously you needed a druid, now it's free for everyone to try. Please note, this drop will make you pull your hair out.
[Ashes of Al'ar] drops from Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Eye. Currently very hard to do, DK's and Hunters only. New tier should change that.
[Reins of the Blue Proto-Drake] comes from Skadi the Ruthless in heroic Utgarde Pinnacle. Any class can do it, Hunters and Tanks have it extremely easy though.
There are a handful of other mounts through achievements that you can do with 2-3 people. Only one achievement from [Glory of the Hero] can't be soloed. [Share the Love] will always need 5 people.
Good luck and happy soloing.
